At the end of 2013, UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) deemed 2015 The International Year of Light.

In their words:

On the most fundamental level through photosynthesis, light is necessary to the existence of life itself, and the many applications of light have revolutionized society through medicine, communications, entertainment and culture. Light and photonics are poised to become key enabling technologies of the future.

We know that light is one of the layers of stunning design. Light fixtures of various shapes, styles, hues, and aesthetics help us bring a room together.  Light brings beauty in a myriad of different ways. It can warm or cool a space, cast shadows, illuminate art, glow gently or laser in on a subject. As homes become smarter and lighting options abound, we are thrilled to use light to make the world a more beautiful place.

We are inspired this year by light!
